Hi - I'm Richard Norris. Living in Wellington, New Zealand with my wife Jolanda.
I'm not quite sure how to describe myself - or even where to start. I've seen a lot of life, that's for sure. I was born in the UK and came to New Zealand when I was nine months old with my parents on a passenger liner - well that dates me! Movement has been part of my life ever since with more stamps in my passport than I like to think. Travelling, for me, is about people and feelings and so my trips abroad have been long and usually involving staying in one or two places. Soaking life in. And it was one of those sojourns that I met my wife Jolanda - London in 1990.
My work has followed a similar theme. My CV is a little long - covering merchant banking, investment, insurance, energy, regulation, change management, project management . . . across London, Sydney and New Zealand. Add to that cafe ownership, building two businesses, and writing a book.
Over the last few years I moved away from senior management to change management consulting in order to get close to my real passion . . . people. Realising we are all different, and that what connects one person to an organisation or project may not connect someone else. Taking the time to listen to people, engage with what's really going on, rebuild a vision and find that missing mojo. This is what builds great organisations, in my view. Not systems, processes and cheery newsletters.
I am a qualified life coach and solution focused coach with the Universal Coach Institute. My philosophy is to focus on being kind to ourselves and others - believing strongly that having a mind of compassion is one of the cornerstones of happiness.
